Here are some suggestions to help you wrap up your studies at UCCS. Note: if you are a graduate student, please visit the Graduate School Website.

Pre-Graduation Undergraduate Checklist

Check List
  • Use the Commencement website to answer all of your questions regarding commencement. Graduating students will receive all information via e-mail.

Attend the Graduation Fair during the semester you are graduating for graduation information, products, and services.

If you miss the Graduation Fair, visit the UCCS Bookstore to purchase regalia and for information on ordering graduation announcements, diploma frames, and college rings.

If you are going to be attending Commencement, don’t forget to register your attendance through the Commencement website (opens mid October for Fall ceremony and opens late March/early April for Spring ceremonies) or by responding to the registration e-mail.

If you have an immediate family member who also graduated from UCCS, be sure to request your complimentary legacy cord (black, gold, silver weave) to wear at the commencement ceremony from the UCCS Alumni & Friends Association. Request your cord online or contact Lisa Bartholme.

Join your fellow classmates and make a contribution to the Class Gift! All dollar amounts are accepted. Our goal is 100% participation so that you can pay it forward to ensure that future Mountain Lions have the same great experience that you did at UCCS. When you donate $25 or more, you will receive a royal blue contribution cord to wear at Commencement keep as a memento of your accomplishments. Questions? Contact Lisa Bartholme.

  • Contact the Career Center for help with your job search strategy before you graduate.  And, continue to receive career help as an alumni.

    Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate students must schedule a senior audit with their academic advisor the semester before they intend to graduate to determine which requirements remain for graduation.

Current students can schedule appointments with their assigned Advisor online through Starfish.

           Log in to Starfish

           Click on My Success Network

Find your Academic Advisor and click Schedule Appointment

If you are having difficulty scheduling an appointment using Starfish please contact us at 719.255.3260 or stop by Main Hall 208.

    Diploma Name:

When you apply to graduate in the myUCCS portal, you can set a unique diploma name that will appear on your diploma and in the commencement program.  If a diploma name is not provided, the Office of the Registrar will use your primary/legal name for the diploma and Commencement program.  You can update your diploma name anytime by navigating back to your graduation application in the portal.

Graduate Students (Masters and PhD/DNP Candidates)

Graduate students who are within two semesters of completing their graduate program should meet with their program director prior to applying for graduation. Visit the Graduate School’s graduation page.

  • Any financial obligations you have (fines, tickets, fees, etc.) must be cleared at the Bursar’s Office in Main Hall, Room 211.

If you have borrowed any Stafford loans while earning your degree please go to the National Student Loan Database (NSLDS) to complete the Stafford Loan Exit Counseling, to see your federal loan balance, and to see who your loan servicer is as well as their contact information.

If you have borrowed any Federal Perkins Loans, all Perkins borrowers are required to complete Perkins exit counseling once they have graduated or ceased half-time enrollment. You will receive a letter from Campus Partners, a third-party servicer for the University, when your exit counseling becomes available to complete.

If you have borrowed any alternative/private loans you will need to contact the lender you borrowed from.

  • Check out the UCCS Alumni and Friends Association website.  Membership is complimentary for all graduates and entitles you to a variety of discounts, benefits and services, including continued career advising.

Update your contact information with the Alumni and Friends Association to receive invitations to alumni special events (like wine tastings, basketball games, art exhibits, etc.) and to stay in the loop about the latest news from your alma mater.

Alumni can also receive discounts on renters, auto and home insurance through our partnership with Liberty Mutual. For a free quote, call 800-524-9400 (mention client # 115289), or learn more on the Alumni Association website.

Take care of health insurance. Your policy eligibility may change based on age, dependency, or student status.

Get excited! When you graduate, you are joining a Mountain Lion family that includes over 55,000 graduates who have gone before you. Revel in this moment. You deserve it!
