Fall/Summer 2021 Commencement
Summer/Fall 2021 Commencement Ceremony
Commencement
We look forward to celebrating August and December graduates during the Commencement Ceremony on Friday, December 17 at the Broadmoor World Arena, which is planned to be an in-person 2 p.m. ceremony.
We cannot predict what may happen with COVID variants between now and December 17; however, at this time we would like the families and friends of our graduates to join us for the Summer/Fall 2021 UCCS Commencement ceremony, with the following stipulations:
- Requirement: All attendees – graduates, guests, and University administrators/faculty/staff – will be required to wear a mask indoors while attending the ceremony. Graduates will be allowed to remove their masks when having photos taken. Those non-compliant with this requirement will be asked to leave the venue.
- Recommendations:
- Attendees are strongly recommended to be vaccinated.
- We strongly recommend unvaccinated individuals be tested for COVID 1-2 days prior to the day of the event.
- We ask that anyone displaying any COVID symptoms, as well as individuals in isolation or quarantine, refrain from attending and participate by watching this event via our livestream option.
- Graduates are requested to consider bringing a limited number of guests; guests should note the arena section they sit in, should a positive COVID case be reported.
- Graduates are urged to share our livestream viewing option for additional guests, especially those who are unvaccinated and/or immunocompromised, to watch the ceremony virtually.
- Attendees are strongly recommended to be vaccinated.
- Guest Attendance Modification: If there is a spike in El Paso County COVID cases or other incident that creates a cause for concern for the health and safety of our graduates and their guests, UCCS may decide to either 1) limit guests or 2) exclude guests and hold the ceremony for graduates only.
Update – As of 11/14/21, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) published an amended public health order (20-38), detailing coordination between the state and several Denver area counties to enact extra protocols to prevent super spreader events including providing proof of vaccination for access to events. At this time El Paso County and the City of Colorado Springs are not included. While we have not changed the requirements to attend the Commencement event, we are encouraging travelers from outside the local area to be prepared to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test (within 72 hrs of the event). Please check this website often to keep-up-to date with the latest event admission requirements.
